We honored Big Wave for their incredible journey of 25 years of dreaming, planning and building a residential facility for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their journey demonstrated what a small group of highly dedicated people can accomplish. They never gave up, despite encountering a myriad of obstacles along the way. Their goal is to help their residents work, stay active and build meaningful community.

We honored the Coastside Water District, located at 766 Main St., Half Moon Bay. The Water District recently completed construction of two enormous new water tanks that, together with their existing tanks, will provide safe and reliable water to approximately 20,000 people for the next 50 years. The District continues to plan ahead and protect the communities of Half Moon Bay, El Granada, Princeton, Miramar and Moonridge by providing high-quality water and excellent customer service.
Mary Rogren is the CEO of the Coastside Water District and is also the treasurer of the Half Moon Bay Rotary Club.

We honored ALAS, the first Latino-driven and farmworker-driven nonprofit on the North Coast. ALAS began as a grassroots vision to honor the hopes and dreams of Latino farmworkers and their families in Half Moon Bay. Through cultural arts programs, counseling, music and education, Dr. Belinda Hernandez-Arriaga and her dedicated staff have turned those big dreams into reality. ALAS continues to strengthen families and build a more connected and inclusive Coastside community.
