This was a celebration meeting. We had a successful LobsterFest, and the meeting was in high spirits, recounting the night and recognizing Rotarians who played key roles.

Pizza, salad, cookies and drinks were provided today, a real treat for all of us.
Connie kicked us off with the flag salute and a thought for the day.  Guests (spouses and family) were introduced by Ginger, John, Steve and Stacy.  John announced that our regional Rotary Youth Exchange coordinator (from Santa Cruz) is planning to throw a party and invite past exchange students to attend, Despite the distance, some may travel for this reunion and John asks us to be on our toes if they need a place to stay.

Pres. Nancy, Liz and Kevin carried most of the rest of the meeting.  Kate Hobbie, who tirelessly carried much of the event organizing, was recognized with a (second) Paul Harris Award for her extraordinary work. Well done Kate!  A number of others were recognized as well, and many certificates were handed out including our Interact volunteer and various family members who pitched in.

Warren announced a good “heads or tails” result from the event and appreciation was expressed for the community members who generously contributed $5000 to the Fund-a-Need appeal, which was partially a Google matching grant through a donor advised fund.  Mary wasn’t able to attend this meeting, but is pulling together final numbers. We do know enough to be confident that we will meet our commitments to the Boys and Girls Club and Coastside Seniors.

Today was also a red letter day for Ralph, who returned from a long trip to Germany to pull the white marble! We all thought this would go down to the last marble in the bag, and having it go to one of our longest tenured members seems only fitting.

Happy and full, we adjourned a bit early.

Respectfully submitted,
WSW
