The theme was Ireland and all things Irish such as the menu of Corned Beef and Cabbage. The members were invited to bring their favorite Limericks to share and some were written for the occasion. Kevin wrote one for Liz in Hawaii, Warren read one about a Tiger and another about the Pelican. Joe recited a dozen he'd composed for members and Michael composed one for Joe on the spot. Warren asked for stories about Ireland and Ralph, Charise and Rosie stood and told told delightful and/or typically Irish experiences they had on the Emerald isle. Kevin wrapped it up with us all standing to sing  Danny Boy. It was a delightful experience to have attended but difficult to convey. There was a cheerful and playful atmosphere afoot among those participating in this appreciated tradition of the Rotary Club of Half Moon Bay.

Following are the limericks Joe composed as a sample of the day's fare:

There was a strapping young lad named O'Brien
He hadn't laid all the girls but he was a tryin'
Then he was smitten, without the web,
And happily wedded his darling Deb
Leaving all the those many unlaid girls a'cryin'!

Dave Andrews appeared for the Paddy's Day feast
Washing it down with six beers...at least,
We heard nary a peep
For he'd fallen asleep.
Awakened he said it wasn't the beer but the yeast!

Rosi is fresh back from the Galapagos
So she didn't expect to be the victim of a roas'
But she stood with a smile
Like Cleopatra of the Nile
And we all raised our glasses in toas'

Charise is all business seven days a week
So when she relaxes don't make her drink weak
From the Chamber she'll retire
Who the hell will they hire
Meanwhile more time in Tahoe she will seek

Past Presidents and PETS should fill the need
To get Paul Wrubel up to presidential speed
He'll take over in July
and the time it will fly
and in no time he will have done his good deed.

At work or in Rotary Liz Schuck is a boss
when she's on a mission she's not one to cross
So one by one
She'll get 'er done
And that is how to accomplish weight loss

Mr Ely would much rather be on the golf course
not jogging, swimming laps or riding a horse
For honing his game
is his life long aim
So he travels with all his clubs of course!

EJ is renown for his singing and squeeze box
He looks dashing in lederhosen and long sox
When he works up a sweat
His whistle he must wet
Whatever you serve him has to be on the rocks.

Just imagine Dianne and Bo's pillow talk
About space shuttles or perhaps a moon walk
Whatever their topic
from arctic to tropic
Together they are as solid as a rock

Warren's rule has been energetic and erect
just as he was as the president elect
he plays it quite straight
and he is never late
We don't fore see him ending in a train wreck

A very long time in Rotary is Dave Cresson
who could give you a HMB history  Lesson
For her loves the lore
and the tales of yore
Ask him a question and you'll get a session

Raffa joins us all the way from Spain
Where the rain falls upon the plain
in school he's doing well
they all think he is swell
he is out for sports playing through the pain

Louise is here from her native France
She palys tennis and loves dance
Her mom is the greatest
She shares the latest
and her smile leaves us all in a trance!

Exchange Student Update
Louise went to the crab feed and had fun. She also went to see the movie Black Panther, and she’s not sure she liked it so much. It reminded her of Star Wars; not what she expected; not her thing at all. She’s leaving for Hawaii on Tuesday as she was invited to stay with a friend, and she’ll be joining the rest of the exchange students for their week in Hawaii. She also reminded everyone to come see the HMBHS Musical this weekend. She’s part of the crew, and it’s been a great experience. Swimming is going ok; she’s been timing at the meets rather than participate as a swimmer.
Rafa says that he’s finally been to a tennis match as they’ve been rained out lately. They did win that match. He went to Monterey with an Austrian exchange student to watch a mountain bike race and also saw a cars exhibition. Rain is depressing because there’s no tennis, and he’s left with nothing to do.
