He offered his profound gratitude to Liz, Warren and Rose plus all the others who helped him.
It was hard and stressful but worth it and he has organized things to go smoother for the next time around.

Our Rotary meeting this week was held at Seville Tapas where we celebrated our great achievements at Pumpkin Festival!   Thank you Catherine Yaque for hosting us.

Greeters were Dick Charnoff, Past President and Patricia Roma, Sargent-at-Arms
Bill Johnson led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Patricia Roma gave the Inspirational Thought,  “The paths of our lives are filled with peaks and valleys.  When we are on the top of our peaks, we become so self-satisfied that we tend to ignore the things of importance. When we are in a valley, we feel a sense of abandonment and can focus only on what action lies directly ahead of us. Remind us, as you do in nature, that above the tree line the mountain-tops are barren and only in the valleys can we find the opportunity for true growth. Ronald Hanson, Rotary Club of Cloquet, MN

Visitors and Guests:

Heather Bodman, an honorary Rotarian attended.  Our exchange student from France, Louise Chielens also attended.

Happy/Not So Happy Newssmileysad

Kevin O’Brien missed Pumpkin Festival because he was in Albuquerque attending the Balloon Festival.  Kevin also commented on how very proud he is of his son Tom, a Paul Harris fellow.  Tom recently organized his close family members (including his 5 ½ year old twins) and friends to contribute to buying desperately needed supplies for the fire victims.   (Even the clerk at Home Depot was very moved by Tom’s efforts, and took $70 off the purchases.)    Tom and his twins successfully delivered a carload of supplies to very grateful fire victims in Napa and Sonoma.

Pat Roma wanted to extend a special thank you to Mitone for her work at Pumpkin Festival.  Pat commented on how impressed she was with how Mitone was able to enlist so many of her family members to work both days!

Paul Wrubel is grateful that he survived Pumpkin Festival and it’s over!

John Evans commented that his house was a revolving door of guests during Pumpkin Festival – including being the central gathering point for 13 exchange students from the Bay Area.   Larkin, as always, was an amazing hostess ensuring that all guests were well fed and taken care of.   On another note, John announced that Interact Club made $3100 at Pumpkin Festival!

Announcements:

Shana Reilly-Pond needed an additional volunteer for the Wednesday Abundant Grace community breakfast, and Heather Bodman came to the rescue.

Kevin O’Brien was very pleased to present a second Paul Harris award to Rosi Fontana.  He also bestowed first time Paul Harris awards to two doctors . . . .  Dr. Richard White and Dr. Paul Wrubel.

Our exchange student from France, Louise Chielens, wore a crown to Rotary today as part of the HMBHS Homecoming week festivities.  The theme for the seniors was “royalty” so Louise was a queen for the day.  Louise thoroughly enjoyed Pumpkin Festival and meeting up with the exchange students from around the Bay Area.   Louise also commented that she lost her tennis match on Monday, but had fun anyway.
