Program: FLOATING DOWN THE AMAZON

Club Members Renee Lewis and Kathie Monozon narrated their delightful trip down the Amazon River with beautiful pictures of the animals they encountered and the traditions of the local people that they experienced.

THIS WEEK AT OUR MEETING

Meeting was conducted by Past President – Dianne Bobko
Greeters were PP EJ Dieterle and Patricia Roma. Patricia read a very appropriate Inspirational Thought.
Mary Corcoran led us in singing the “Star Spangled Banner”

Charise McHugh introduced Christine Morgan who has just moved from Orange County. Her occupation is Neuro Feedback
Renee Lewis introduced her Mom, Ester Lewis, Dianna Plank and Mike Boos.
John Evans introduced “Our Girl from Belgium”, Caroline Gossart
Happy and Not So HappyNews:
John Evans was at “back to school night at the high school” where he did a power point presentation on Rotary exchange student program.
Mary Corcoran’s son, Michael, is returning home from Colorado and will continuing on to Argentina. His girlfriend, Angelisee, will need to obtain a job so she can continue to stay in the States.
Caroline Gossart, “our girl from Belgium”, attended her first high school football game. She also went to the Livermore outlets. She is, “still glad to be here!”
Joe Brennan announced the speaker program at the Odd Fellows – their first speaker was Quentin Kopp. Next Wednesday will be a short film on what peace looks like called “Improbable Pairs”.
Dianne and Bo Bobko will be leaving for Europe for 6 weeks, first meeting daughter, Michelle, in Croatia.
A Special Project Proposal
Joe Brennan introduced our young guest, Malanie Serrano, who has a special project she would like Rotary’s help with. She saw a video on her Mom’s Facebook page that inspired her. She saw children in Africa who had no safe drinking water, no shoes and they had no beds and were sleeping on the ground. She would like to create a project that would obtain donations for water, clothes, school supplies, etc. Joe as our World Service Chair and President Liz will coordinate this with the help of the club. Charise McHugh mentioned that Haslett Hardware gets school supplies for the Chamber’s help a teacher night at a 50% discount at their cost and this may be a source of interest.
Announcements
Rotary dues credit card information forms need to be completed so Dolores Goulet can set up the new process.
Charise McHugh announced that the ribbon cutting would be tonight for remodeled “Snap Fitness”. Healthy Kids Faire will be this weekend sponsored by New Leaf and Half Moon Bay Chamber.
Susan Shapira announced Farallone View is having a garage sale this week end. They are accepting all items and you can drop off at the multi-purpose room by 3:30PM on Friday.
Bill Johnson announced the progress of the “Dave Andrew’s Weight Challenge”. How ya doin Dave!? Dave’s comment “ I haven’t had an M&M in a month. “
