July 31 Meeting Recap
Our meeting this week was held at Cameron's Pub. An outdoor BBQ with great food and friends. We had guests from the Rotary Club of Pacifica and visiting Rotarians from Switzerland who decided on visiting our club because we advertised it as a BBQ. Sergeant at arms did a great job by bringing all our gear to the outdoor venue. We had our banner, flag and the rest of the gear that goes with putting together a proper Rotary club meeting.
President Dianne led us in singing the national anthem and Paul McReynolds shared brief inspirational words for the group.
We had many guests join us at our BBQ.

Doug and his guest Joe recently of the east coast and looks to be relocating to the area.

Pastor Mike of the Holy Family Church was a guest of Dave Andrews. Pastor Mike spoke of the backpack drive that the Holy Family Church is spearheading along with a number of other local organizations. The backpacks are going to be given out to local children in need, whose numbers have increased in the last year. There's still a large deficiency in funding the backpack drive and he hopes that the Rotary Club would join them in their efforts. (Since this meeting, the club has decided to give $500 towards the backpacks. Funds will come from the Small Donations Fund.)

Kendall Flint invited husband Steve Flint (aka Mr. Kendall Flint) to the BBQ. Kendall is our social chair extraordinaire and is the one soley responsible for our great offsite meetings and socials.Where to next Kendall?

The two presidents, Linda Jonas of Pacifica and Dianne Bobko of HMB. They were classmates together during PETs, President Elect Training last March. Past President Yvonne Lorvan of Pacifica also attended our BBQ.
Also from Rotary Club of Pacifica Sunrise, Victor and Sheila attended our meeting.
Victor told us about how their club offers the use of 3 trucks own by fellow Rotarians. The truck can be borrowed for a fee. The fee is to be paid to their foundation. Their club also has an airport shuttle service, also provided by fellow Rotarians and fees paid to their foundation. Isn't this a great idea to implement in our club? Yes!

Esther and Markus Bronnimann from Switzerland were our visiting Rotarians. They chose to come to our club meeting because they saw our website and were intrigued by the idea of going to a BBQ.
Markus told us about their club and their projects. He gave a brief overview of their area and the other club that serves their small community.
Esther, a professional singer, treated us to an impromptu concert! She yodeled and sang for us! What a treat!
