Program notes for February 5, 2015 Rotary Meeting

Mitone took over the meeting from President Dianne, and asked:
Who checks the Foghorn? It comes by email, has Magic of the Coastside fundraiser information.

Magic of the Coastside info is all on our website: www.rotaryofhalfmoonbay.com
  • All is linked to the Bidding For Good website where you can purchase TICKETS and check out our ONLINE AUCTION
  • Click on the Magic of the Coastside logo to get into the information
  • Information about the Service Above Self Award is there and also past awardees’ information.
  • You can buy tickets to the fundraiser on the site. Paper tickets are also available for people who don’t want to use the website. Tickets are $75 each, appetizers, meal, and dessert are all included.  The menu will be posted as soon as it is finalized.
  • For bidding on auction items, you can use your password from last year; it is still active. If you haven’t registered to bid, you can register and enter in your credit card number.
  • Any link on the website can be forwarded. (send this link: www.rotaryofhalfmoonbay.com)
  • Including your mobile phone number  on the Bidding For Good website is key, because you will be informed on  your phone if you are out-bid on the item you want.
  • Mitone will send out to everyone a special Foghorn edition focused on Magic, tickets etc. with a link that you can forward to your friends and contacts.
  • People can bid on the Auction without having to buy tickets to the event.
Liz then took over the meeting and mentioned that you don’t have to go to the Magic of the Coastside event in order to bid.
  • Liz said she has some items, needs photos of items to post on the online auction website.
  • Last year, we had 50 items and net income was just about $6,500.00.
  • At the event last year, we had some items displayed.
  • Dianne showed a website from Carmel as an example of what items look like on the website.
  • Liz had Dianne show members a poster autographed by astronauts and cosmonauts suitable for framing t.hat will be auctioned this year
  • Liz said we need for each item a picture, a vivid description, the value of the item, and minimum opening bid.
  • At the event, an hour before it ends, the bidding will end. Last year, Mike Alifano loaned us some computers to use at the event for bidding, and this year you can also use your smart phone to bid.
  • The rest of the meeting consisted of members working on their item descriptions, value, minimum bid, etc.
  • Bonnie took photos of some of the items that were present at the meeting, such as the Ellen Joseph and Eric Shapira paintings.

The marble drawing was held; Paul Rubel had the chance to draw the marble, but it was green. So the amount of money continues to grow.
