Program: Welcoming NEW CUISD TEACHERS and STAFF
John Corry, Assistant Superintendent/Human Resources, thanked us for our ongoing support and indicated our meeting is part of the new teacher orientation.
New administrators were introduced by Jane Yuster, Superintenent, who also acknowledged the support from this community and Rotary. It's been a busy summer with maintenance and construction projects, and new facilities opening...Pilicartos, Adult Education, Cunha Gym and Hatch School. Work on Farallone View will start next year.
Principals introduced the new teachers:
There are 7 new teachers for HMB High. Our high school has 18 unique advanced placement courses. There are also CSM courses being taught, in addition to athletic, band and arts programs. The high school compares favorably with private over the hill schools.
Cunha is turning out better students sooner. There are 4 new teachers and 4 transfers from other Cabrillo schools. Thanked Rotary for prior support and encouraged teachers to take advantage.
At Hatch there are 4 new teachers and an assistant principal. We were thanked for the dictionaries, they light up the students minds. Construction challenges are a current reality, but will be overcome.
In El Granada there are 2 new teachers and an appreciation for the community's connection with the schools.
Special Education introduced one new speech pathologist.
The Personnel Department begins the hiring and assessment process in February. They were given a special thank you for all their hard work this summer, including Mike Cary, Personnel Technician and Steve Goldberg.
Our guest’s sense of enthusiasm and excitement was quite obvious. It was also interesting to note that several of the new teachers grew up in the area and graduated from HMB High School.
