President Liz Schuck called the annual business meeting of our Club to order. She asked each Board Director, Officer, and Chairs to give a brief report on the status of their Areas of Service for the last six months. Each Club in our District is expected to achieve a certain number of points that are assigned by the District for activities within each of the Areas. At the end of the Rotary year, each Club submits their report, and awards and recognition, including, the "Best Club" award are given at the annual District Congress in May.
Community Services - Director Shana "Rusty" Reilly-Pond was not able to attend, but Liz reminded everyone of all the activities we are involved in in the Community.
World Community Services - Director Joe Brennan reported that we are participating in two projects in partnership wIth Marin and Pacifica. One of our goals is to do a trip to Mexico. We also have a couple of alternate goals. A new Director will be taking over this area next year.
Rotary International Foundation - Chair Kevin O'Brien does this because he believes in OUR foundation, it is Rotary International, but it is still our foundation. RI Foundation is rated very highly by several rating services. We as a club can decide how money is spent. Our club will be evaluated, dollar per member, etc. EREY (every Rotarian every year). Need new fellows, major gifts, and bequest society members. Supporting the Foundation is part of being a Rotarian. Kevin is also working with six other clubs to manage their participation.
Membership - Director Paul Wrubel reported that "net gain" is how we're evaluated by the District. How we treat inactive members is an issue we aim to improve on. We are adding more honorary members. There are more volunteers on the Coastside per capita which makes our area a great one for growing Rotary.
Youth Services - Director Linda Crose Andersen, Little Coyote/Big Coyote, chamber at the high school, Interact...these are our ongoing programs.
Public Relations - Co-Chairs Mary Corcoran and Dianne Bobko Dianne reported on changes and ongoing progress with our website and The Foghorn. The stats on our website show that an average of 46% of us open the email Dianne sends every week. In it there is a link that takes us to our website where we can read The Foghorn. Our Homepagehas a link for paying dues. Her email will soon include the meeting schedule. We have a Facebook site. We will be posting to Patch and the HMB review, Mary Cochran does a lot of this.
Financial Summary--Treasurer Dwight Wilson reported that dues are under control and our taxes are up to date (thank you Dianne). We now have a bookkeeper. Our annual budget is $88,000. The Foundation has over $185,000 on hand. Spending plans not determined yet.
Warren Barmore our PE, announced that the Past Presidents Executive Committee met and submitted nominees for 2017-18 open Board Positions. Pres. Liz opened the floor for additional nominations. There were none and the PPEC's nominee's were unanimously accepted. Our new Board Members will be: Paul Wrubel, President Elect; Richard White, Director. One position for Director has not been finalized.

Foundation Annual Meeting
April 1, Magic of the Coast. We are looking for partners. Susan Shapiro is heading up sponsors. Wes Burgess is working on the entertainment program and has an "amazing" magician promised. John Evans had contacted The Blue Street Jazz Band from the last two years, but all of them were not available so it was decided to find a really great magician.
Wes will chair the raffle. Dianne Bobko and Mary Corcoran are our marketing and PR mavens. Dianne will chair the "Service Above Self" volunteer recognition program again this year. Catherine Yaque, is the lead for food. Linda Crose-Andersen, is in charge of youth help and the Youth "Service Above Self" recognition. Mary Rogren, is in charge of the auction; however, she won't be there the night of the event, so we need someone to be her co-chair! Also need help with decorating. Paul Wrubel and Kevin O'Brien are on set up and break-down/cleanup.
Ticket sales needs a team lead! Dianne won't continue with this this year. Since most of the sales will be online, we need someone with basic computer comfort and skills to take this on. Dianne will train them.
All these areas need volunteers, please contact the the folks in charge of the areas you are interested in helping with.
Bill Johnston volunteered to help Catherine. with the food. That's how it's done folks! Volunteer now and get a job before they're all gone!

Guests
Our very own favorite exchange student,Caroline Gossart, who was sad that she had left the Evans, but happy in her new home with the Rogrens.
Happy/Not So Happy News
Paul Wrubel gave a shout out to Charise McHugh for all that she does for our Coastside community (and that she carried through despite some personal sad news this past week.)
Kevin O"Brien announced that his young employee (52), Claudia Lopez, had a heart attack the Friday after Thanksgiving, but is recovering nicely. At the same time, his other employee Melissa’s father passed suddenly and unexpectedly. Treasure each day!
Dianne Bobko just back from a NYC visit to see her son, Paul. Bo was ill most of the time there except for a gratis stint as Astro Tour Guide at the Intrepid Museum for a special event for Military Families. There were lots of children. Paul’s siginificant other was recently sworn in as a US citizen in a very special group of only 15 people from all over the world at the NYC Tenement Museum. She was chosen at random for this special group.
Irwin Cohen had a short, but crappy story about his grandson, Solly.
Steve and Kathy Wilson are going on a trip to Israel this spring with a group from Texas. It is on their 'bucket list'.
Announcements
John Evans shared that there are 10 Rotary Youth Exchange students in the Bay Area, with 4 in our district. Daniel, from Brazil will be in a trampoline meet in Livermore.
Mary Rogren was happy that Caroline has moved in.
And Betty Shapiro had honorary membership status bestowed on her at the last board meeting.
Joe Brennan has been wrapping presents at Coastside Hope all week as part of their Christmas Families Project. Wouldn't if be nice if our whole Club could do that next year?!!!
Next week is the Alumni luncheon – with at least 16 former Rotary members being sponsored by current members to attend.
And don’t forget – April 1st is the Magic of the Coastside. And a new ticket sales leader is needed.
The MARBLE DRAW - no winner this week Joe's ticket was drawn, but no luck.
