Program: LET'S GET GOING ON MAGIC 2016!
Liz Schuck began the program by announcing the date of the event which will be April 2, 2016. They have formed the Planning Committee which is: Chair, Liz Schuck; Sponsorships, Shana "Rusty" Reilly-Pond; PR and Marketing, Mary Corcoran; Service Above Self Award, Dianne Bobko; Food, Linda Crose-Andersen; Auction, Andrew Boyd-Goodrich; Bar, Joe Brennan.
The theme will be Mardi Gras.
Focus for fundraising will change to a primary donation to the Purple Heart Anglers with whom we will partner in this effort. In addition funds will also go toward the Club's World Community Services efforts and the Club Foundation. The money will be dedicated to Veterans in our community and plans will include having a fishing outing for them located here on the Coastside. It was felt, given the changes in Rota Care, that the needs and appeal to support disabled veterans would be a good fit for the community and the club. The next Magic of the Coastside planning meeting is Thursday, December 17th.
Shana spoke next about sponsorships. Last year under Mitone’s leadership they just about met their $10,000 goal and, of course, the goal will be raised this year. The four levels are: $100 for Friend of Rotary, $250 Bronze, $500 Silver, and $1000 Gold. There are excellent advertising benefits and everyone should be a sponsor as funds raised here are pure profits. There was a discussion about naming rights to the event to raise additional funds.
Dianne then spoke about Service Above Self. She had mentioned that many of the nominees came from recommendations from the membership. Every table spent 15 minutes coming up with names of people to nominate or organizations that members would contact for additional people to be considered. Please contact Dianne with any suggested nominees. She will follow up with each member so the nominating forms can be completed.
Liz ended the session summarizing the event needs and let everyone know last year’s band, Blue Street Jazz Band, will be back!
