Stacy Trevenon and husband Doug visited Uncle Ralph in Roseville. He has great sense of humor and celebrating 100th birthday.
 
Eric Shapira celebrating great heart health anniversary with Mom. She works out 7 days a week. Eric's son bought some chickens and thought he bought a rooster who eventually laid an egg.
 
 
 
 
Bill Johnson announced the very sad loss of his Father who would be celebrating 91 1/2 years on Tuesday. Bill gave a brief history of his Dad, commenting he met his Mom while going to Stanford, has a loving and very close family of 12. He retired at 65 only to continue to work setting up a job training center. He was surrounded by 8 of his children as he peacefully past.
 
Ralph Ely - gave Rotary foundation a generous check of over $100 to celebrate over 43 years of life as a real estate broker.
 
Charise announced her granddaughter was turning 5 and her daughter and son in law were leaving to celebrate the Sundance film festival.
 
John Evans - daughter Poppy took him out for his birthday last Thursday and he missed Rotary so he could spend time with his daughter. 180 kids participated in trampoline competition in Northern California. Sadly, he went on to mentioned the passing of past Rotarian member John Gonzales who was the former Police Chief of Half Moon Bay.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Ginger announced the expansion and moving plans for Bay World Travel to new location in Shoreline Station from current Shoreline Station site. Now they have 4 full time employees and 3 part-time employees.
 
Dianne deposited a check of $100 in honor of her own birthday which she has in common with her sister who is now in the middle of radiation for breast cancer.
 
Reminder from Joe B of Spaghetti Dinner Tues., January 27th from 5:30 to 8 at the Senior Center. Sold over 100 tickets and their goal is to sell 200. Suggested donation is $20. See Joe or Kevin for tickets. Guest speaker is Eric Schmautz, past district governor.
 
Charise noted Melinda Gates was on Morning America and was talking about the progress with removing the polio threat. Charise reminded everyone with each donation to Polio Plus the Gates foundation matches 2 to 1. This should encourage us to put a little extra in the "pot" each week.
 
Mike Alifano also mentioned Bill Gates made a public appearance on TV where he mentioned how close we are to removing this dreaded disease worldwide. Dianne played a video regarding Polio.
 
Mitone stated the effort to eradicate Polio started in the Philippines in 1986 and because of the widespread efforts to vaccinate children around the world, people 40 years and younger are not aware of the impact of this disease and still needs to be explained.

John Evans needs piano or keyboard for the event. Mary Corcoran has done a great job with public relations and promoting our event district wide and on our web site. Liz Shuck is still in need of silent auction items. Just got a certificate for Yoga instruction as a donation. Needs more stuff for the auction. Mitone still looking for corporate sponsors for event....deadline for print marketing coming up.
 
Dan Miller: Membership is doing great! Great new members are coming on board and more coming :) Rotary makes a difference at Carter Park for Shakespeare clean up scheduled for Saturday 1/24 from 10 to noon. Bring gloves, sun block.
Dan also mentioned we will helping with the Half Moon Bay Marathon again this coming October. More to follow.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Rose - updated us on the visit from the Italians....:-( Looks like it won't happen this year but we will continue to encourage them to join us in the future. Scheduling became too difficult.
 
Dianne wanted to auction off one ticket for "Blythe Spirit" with Angela Lansbury. January 30th. at 8PM. Not sure who won?????  Dave Andrews got the ticket for Connie.  So another $100 donated by Dianne and Dave to the Dictionaries Fund.  Connie, Dianne and Bo will have a great evening at the theater!
 
District conference is scheduled in Disneyland May 1-3 - Club encourages all to sign up and attend. Information on district web site.
 
Warren B. has 300 dictionaries that need delivered need volunteers to help with Hatch, El Granada, Farallone View and more.
 
Tony R announced quick World Community Service meeting after our meeting today.
 
Paul Wrubel is meeting with parents of seniors at the high school to review financial options for college.
 
Charise mentioned ribbon cutting for new Chiropractor in town this evening at 5PM.
